Roll Tide!  Welcome to the online home of the Shreveport, Louisiana Chapter of The University of Alabama Alumni Association.  The goal of the Chapter is to support the University and strengthen the connection between the University and its alumni, students, and friends in Northwest Louisiana.

 

Our main objectives are to provide scholarships to deserving students from the Shreveport area and to assist in the identification and recruitment of future UA students. We are only able to reach these goals through the continuous support of our chapter members, the local alumni and friends of The University of Alabama.

 

In addition, we organize events for our alumni and friends, including an annual kick-off party, game watching parties, freshmen send-off parties and other activities.  Our goal is to make your membership both fun and rewarding!

 

We hope you’ll see that our chapter is a fun group of Alabama supporters who enjoy celebrating UA’s rich tradition of excellence in all that we do. Please come back often for updates!

Even if you don't have time to take on an officer position, at least send us your best ideas for how we can improve the chapter.

Elephants Never Forget, Please Pay Your Dues

 

Your dues support chapter events like the fall football game watches, holiday parties, and the chapter's scholarship program.  Paying your dues online is secure and easy, justclick on the appropriate link and follow the directions: $25 for individuals or $40 for couples. If you would rather pay your dues the old fashioned way, please send a check made out to the Shreveport Alumni Association to Scotty Amos, 9623 Gardere Dr, Shreveport, LA 71115.

 

 

Scholarship Support

 

A primary goal of the chapter is to support students at the University and help the the recruitment of top students from the Shreveport area.  The Shreveport Chapter endowed the Mrs. Rae Kreisman Selber Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund in 2008.  The scholarship honors the memory of Mrs. Rae Kreisman Selber, a 1952 graduate of The University of Alabama, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Film Communication from the College of Art & Sciences.  Rae was also a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi and wife of one of our chapter’s founding members, Mr. Mandel Selber, Jr..  Rae and Mandy met at UA, she originally from Mobile and he from Shreveport.  They married in 1954 and made their home in Shreveport.  Rae passed away on October 23, 2006.

To support the chapter's scholarship efforts please send a check payable to the University of Alabama to Paula Jeter, National Alumni Association, P. O. Box 861928 Tuscaloosa, AL 35486-0017. Be sure to identify the “Selber Memorial Scholarship” on your check. Your scholarship contributions are tax deductible. 

Your contribution to the National Alumni Association is matched by the collegiate license plate program, so every dollar you contribute means almost two dollars to the our scholarship.
